Enchanted Forest

We had a great time at the Enchanted Forest this weekend. I must say it was a refreshing experience and not at all what I was expecting. Although the park is a little unique in many respects, it still takes you back in time a bit to the days where you could go experience something like this for a few hours. The rides may have been a bit different and the storybook reinactments were downright creepy, but the grounds were nice enough and the place had a friendly air to it that you won't find at the happiest place on earth.

The gift shop was also worth a trip in itself. They had all the classic gift store fare. The line of Adam's novelties (even the rubber chocolate doughnut, I know, I was shocked too), thimbles, spoons, and magnets to memorialize your trip of your refrigerator. Bear got a keychain with the little miss muffet sculpture on it (by the way she looks like she has just nodded off to the eternal sleep) and I went for the playing cards. Because you never know when you need enchanted cards. You can even visit the gift shop virtually, so go check it out.

Their log flume is one of the best I’ve ever been on. You actually alternate between floating and being on a roller coaster. If you haven’t been to enchanted forest lately, you should go check it out. It’s a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Yes, it’s creepy—not just the storybook trail section. I’ve been visiting since just after it opened in the early 1970s. Now I visit with my husband just for the fun and wacky photography opportunities. Plus at roughly 45 minutes from Portland, OR how could we not drive down once per year to enjoy a day in the forest.

Not Disney by far, but they were inspired by Walt and Mr. Tofte (originator of EF) did confer with the Disney folks back in the early days of building his own little kingdom in Turner, Oregon.

Your review was very humorous—thanks for the laughs!
